BRIEF BIOGRAPHY:

Jonathan Reed Winkler joined the department in 2005.  A native of Ohio and a graduate of Ohio University's Honors Tutorial College, he has also studied at the universities of Edinburgh, Scotland and Salamanca, Spain.  Dr. Winkler received his Ph.D. with distinction from Yale University (May 2004).  He has taught at the University of Maryland, College Park, and at the United States Naval Academy.  His research has earned him the inaugural Betty  M. Unterberger dissertation prize from the Society for Historians of  American Foreign Relations (2005) and the John Addison Porter Prize  of Yale University for best work of scholarship by a graduate (2004).
